Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
The Trivial Club ("we", "us", "the app") is a daily trivia game. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have. We've tried to write this in plain language rather than dense legal text.
Who runs this
The Trivial Club is an independently run project. For any privacy questions, you can reach out via the contact details on our website.
What we collect
If you create an account, we collect:
- Your email address (used for login and account recovery)
- A username you choose
- Your quiz scores, streaks, XP, and game progress
- Friend connections you make within the app, if you use the friends feature
If you play as a guest, none of the above is sent to our servers, your progress is stored only in your browser and is lost if you clear your browser data or switch devices.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use the following types of storage:
| Type | Purpose | Consent needed? |
|---|---|---|
| Authentication (Firebase) | Keeps you logged in between visits | No, essential |
| Local app storage | Saves your quiz progress, theme preference, and accessibility settings on your device | No, essential |
| Analytics (Google Analytics) | Helps us understand how the app is used, so we can improve it | Yes, only loads if you accept |
You can accept or reject analytics cookies at any time. If you've already made a choice, you can change it by clearing your browser's site data for this page, or by using the cookie preferences link in the app footer.
How we use your information
- To run the core features of the app (quizzes, scoring, streaks)
- To show you a leaderboard if you choose to compete with friends
- To understand overall usage patterns (only if you've accepted analytics cookies), so we can fix bugs and improve the app
We do not sell your data, and we do not show third-party ads.
Where your data is stored
Account data is stored using Google Firebase, a cloud platform provided by Google. Firebase applies its own security and data protection measures, details of which are available on Google's own privacy documentation.
Your rights
If you're in the UK or EU, you have rights under data protection law, including the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You can delete your account and associated data at any time from the Account page within the app.
Children's privacy
The Trivial Club is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll update the "last updated" date at the top of this page.
